With the growth of Open Source Software mirroring the growth of the web in the last few years, I’ve found it hard to quantify both why I am willing to invest my time and energy into it, and also to keep the views/expectations/motivations of others into perspective.
It’s too easy to become evangelistic & unrealistic; a path that can surely only lead to the dark side ;)
With that in mind, on this my 25th Birthday, I offer this thought:
The Open Source Software manifesto
We’re not better people simply because we’re fans of Open Source Software;
We’re fans of Open Source Software because we’re trying to make things better for people.
I’m Kevinjohn Gallagher, and I approve this message.
